Enel X Wins a Taiwan Sustainability Action Award for VPP Achievements
Enel X Taiwan participated for the first time in the 4th Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards, hosted by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), and secured the Bronze Award in the "SDG 13 Climate Action" category. The company was recognized for its "Virtual Power Plant Accelerates the Energy Transition" initiative, highlighting its contributions to energy transition and climate change mitigation.
The Taiwan Sustainability Action Award, established by TAISE, honors exceptional contributions to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and has become a benchmark in the domestic sustainability field. This year, 230 companies and organizations competed, evaluated by 130 judges. Daniele Andreoli, Head of Flexibility Solutions at Enel X, expressed pride in the recognition, emphasizing Enel X's role in stabilizing Taiwan's power grid and integrating more renewable energy resources through its virtual power plant (VPP) since 2016.
Enel X's global strategy centers around achieving SDG 13—Climate Action, using VPPs to support SDG 7—Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 9—Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. VPPs help commercial and industrial enterprises improve energy efficiency, promote electrification, and contribute to sustainable cities (SDG 11) by rethinking energy use and adopting digital technologies.
Currently, Enel X operates Taiwan's largest Demand Response VPP, providing customized integrated energy solutions for commercial and industrial users. By participating in the VPP, large energy users can enhance their sustainability efforts, support grid stability, achieve energy-saving goals, and earn new revenue, all while contributing to Taiwan's energy transition and net-zero carbon emission targets.
