Flotation Energy has been recognized as the first developer to receive the FWD Floating Offshore Wind Award for its development of the world's largest floating offshore wind farm in Kincardine, Scotland. The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced the award during the Floating Wind Days event.

Flotation Energy was founded in Scotland in 2018 by Allan MacAskill and Nicol Stephen to advance global offshore wind energy. In November 2022, the company became a Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) renewable energy division subsidiary. Flotation Energy has development projects with a combined capacity exceeding 13 GW in the UK and internationally.

Barry MacLeod, General Manager of Flotation Energy, expressed great honor in receiving the award, stating, "The floating offshore wind energy industry must continuously evolve, requiring agility and environmental value. Flotation Energy’s recognition demonstrates that our outstanding team, strong partnerships with joint venture partners, and robust supply chain surpass global standards, providing more opportunities to participate in floating wind energy projects."

Arvid Ness, Head of Norwegian Offshore Wind & METCentre, also congratulated Flotation Energy on their well-deserved victory.

The FWD Floating Offshore Wind Award is organized by Norwegian Offshore Wind, which spans 12 countries with over 380 members. The award jury, composed of global analytical organizations Green Giraffe, Westwood Energy, and McKinsey & Company, received over 35 nominations. Ultimately, the jury unanimously recognized Flotation Energy’s achievements.
