On 28th, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan held a naming and launching ceremony at its Kaohsiung Shipyard for 2 newly built 100-ton customs patrol vessels commissioned by the Customs Administration, Ministry of Finance. The ceremony was jointly officiated by CSBC Vice President Tsung-Hui Yen, Keelung Customs Director Chih-Tung Chang, and Kaohsiung Customs Director Fang-Chu Liu. Director Chang served as the naming sponsor, while Director Liu performed the traditional bottle-breaking ceremony, symbolizing safe operations and successful missions.

The first vessel, "Hai-An Boat (CP-10007)", will be assigned to Hualien Branch under Keelung Customs to oversee patrol operations in Taiwan's eastern waters. It was named "Hai-An (海安艇)”, following customs vessel naming traditions using the character "Hai (海)" (sea), while "An (安)" signifies safety and stability, reflecting the mission of safeguarding maritime security and ensuring safe navigation.

The 2nd vessel, "Hai-Cheng Boat (CP-10008)", will be deployed at Kaohsiung Customs, which guards Taiwan's southern maritime gateway. Named "Hai Cheng (海誠艇)," the vessel draws inspiration from the Book of Rites concept of integrity and self-discipline, symbolizing customs officers' commitment to professionalism, integrity, and law enforcement excellence. Together, the names "An (安)" and "Cheng (誠)" represent teamwork, resilience, and safe returns amid challenging sea conditions.

The 2 vessels are part of "Customs Patrol Boat Replacement Project Phase II" initiated by the Customs Administration. Following contract signing on June 11, 2024, CSBC refined the preliminary design and commenced construction, with project completion scheduled for August 28, 2027. The company expects both vessels to be delivered on schedule to support maritime inspection and anti-smuggling operations.

Each patrol vessel measures 32 meters in length and is equipped with two 2,580 kW diesel engines, reduction gear systems, and twin five-blade fixed-pitch propellers. Featuring a widened stern design and a lightweight steel-aluminum hybrid structure, the vessels combine durability with enhanced maneuverability. Under Beaufort scale force 3 conditions or below, the vessels can reach speeds of up to 30 knots (approximately 55 km/h), significantly improving maritime enforcement mobility.

CSBC stated that, as Taiwan's leading shipbuilder under the national shipbuilding policy, the company will continue advancing construction according to schedule through close teamwork and dedicated execution. The new patrol vessels are expected to strengthen offshore surveillance capabilities, combat smuggling and other illegal maritime activities, and enhance deterrence against unlawful operations at sea.
