President Ching-te Lai attended the 80th Anniversary Celebration of CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC) on June 1, praising CPC's long-standing role in ensuring stable oil and gas supplies and supporting Taiwan's economic development and energy security. After viewing the commemorative film "CPC Has Always Been Here" (中油一直都在), President Lai noted that CPC has accompanied Taiwan through post-war reconstruction, industrial growth, and its rise as a key player in the global supply chain over the past eight decades.

President Lai emphasized that CPC's contribution extends beyond energy supply. By maintaining stable fuel prices and securing reliable energy resources amid global geopolitical uncertainties and volatile energy markets, the company has helped safeguard daily life, industrial operations, and economic stability. He expressed his appreciation to CPC employees for their dedication and frontline efforts in fulfilling the company's public service mission and supporting the government's price stabilization policies.

Looking ahead, President Lai stressed that "energy security is national security" and announced the government's continued support for two strategic priorities. First, CPC will strengthen Taiwan's energy resilience by upgrading oil and gas infrastructure, diversifying import sources, and enhancing supply dispatch and backup capabilities to address challenges arising from climate change and geopolitical risks. Second, CPC will accelerate the adoption of AI technologies. Building on the establishment of its 5G AIoT project office in 2021 and a five-year AI talent development initiative launched last year, CPC is expected to further expand AI applications across its operations.

President Lai said he hopes CPC will continue advancing smart and sustainable development through AI-driven process optimization, predictive maintenance, and workplace safety management. He reaffirmed that the government will remain a strong partner, supporting the company in maintaining operational stability while protecting employee rights and long-term corporate development.

President Lai also highlighted the importance of knowledge transfer and innovation as CPC enters a new chapter. He encouraged senior employees to pass on their expertise and urged younger generations to leverage digital technologies, innovative thinking, and interdisciplinary skills.
