|Governor Signs MOU with Federal Government for Offshore Wind Projects
Maryland's objective to establish a robust offshore wind industry is receiving support from the Biden administration. On the 7th, Governor Wes Moore signed a memorandum of understanding with the federal government to coordinate offshore wind energy development off Maryland's coast. This agreement follows the governor's recent executive order advancing his climate change initiatives. The memorandum delineates the framework for federal and state collaboration to plan and implement measures aimed at bolstering Maryland's offshore wind industry.

"Maryland is serious about offshore wind because we are serious about actually achieving our goals, not just because of what it means for the environment, but also, importantly, what it means for our economy," Moore said.

Offshore wind is the unofficial guidepost of Maryland's path toward a clean energy future. Headwinds of supply chain issues and high interest rates forced the company Ørsted to withdraw its two wind farms that would have been located off the Delmarva coast.

But the company U.S. Wind remains committed to building 22 turbines 20 miles off the Ocean City coast that the company said will generate enough electricity to power 92,000 homes. The company's MarWin Offshore Wind Project in Maryland is likely to receive final federal approval this fall.

Large wind farm, with the capacity of generating 50 MW electricity, was inaugurated in the east of Iran by the country's Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian. Mil Nader Wind Farm is the biggest wind farm in the eastern part of the country, was put into operation during the visit of the energy minister to the southern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

With the capacity of generating 50 MW electricity, Mil Nader Wind Farm is equipped with 20 of 2.5 MW wind turbines of Type II. As large as about 1,000 hectares, Mil Nader Wind Farm is located in Nimruz County, Northwest of Zabol in Sistan-Baluchestan province. The construction operation of the wind power plant started in 2020. Upon the construction operation of this power plant, more than 250 million liters of water and 30 million liters of diesel will be saved annually with the generation of every 100 megawatts of the renewable energy.
