WEA 2024 Opens in Kaohsiung: Spotlight on Innovative Solutions for Wind Farm O&M

The "WEA 2024" grand opening took place at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center on March 6. It focused on market opportunities for innovative solutions in wind farm operations and maintenance. Michael Tu, President of the organizer, Interplan Group, inaugurated the opening ceremony.

The 3-day WEA exhibition featured participation from 75 companies representing 12 countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Denmark, and France. The event also hosted renowned speakers from both domestic and international sectors, with heavyweight industry players such as SGRE (Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy), EDF Renewables, Rolls-Royce, Boskalis, Weathernews, OEG Renewables, SOIC (Ship And Ocean Industries R&D Center), and CDWE (CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering) sharing insights on topics ranging from floating wind farms to offshore wind farm maintenance, innovative repair technologies, and floating wind turbines.

Introduction of OPITO Certification for the First Time in Taiwan
The opening ceremony also included an OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) certification ceremony, awarding accreditation to the Maritime Technology Innovation Center established by the Bureau of Energy and MIRDC (Metal Industries Research & Development Centre) at the Xing Da Harbor in Kaohsiung as the first OPITO-certified training center in Taiwan. WEA opened its doors to public viewing activities on March 8, featuring demonstrations of high-altitude operations, maritime survival training, underwater escape, etc., aimed at enhancing the professional skills and safety efficiency of personnel through explanation and practical exercises.
