Skyborn Renewables Announces Completion of Financial Restructuring for Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm and Accelerated Project Advancement
Skyborn Renewables, in partnership with investment collaborators TotalEnergies Group, EGCO Group, and Sojitz Corporation, has successfully concluded the financial restructuring agreement for the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm, propelling the construction efforts of the 640MW Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm into high gear.
Thomas Karst, CEO of Skyborn Renewables, commented, "This represents a significant milestone for the Yunlin OWF Project and Taiwan's offshore wind energy industry. It underscores our dedication to Taiwan's clean energy transition and highlights our team's exceptional project management capabilities." Regarding project progress, Karst shared, "The installation work in 2023 is proceeding smoothly, and preparations for the 2024 installations are nearly complete. This achievement is a result of unwavering collaboration among all stakeholders and the relentless commitment of our project team."
Skyborn Renewables extends its gratitude to the regulatory authorities and all involved parties for their steadfast support of the Yunlin OWF Project, aiding in accomplishing various milestones. Following the completion of the financial restructuring agreement, the project team remains dedicated to completing the installation work while diligently overcoming the challenges of the construction process, ensuring the successful completion of the wind farm. The electricity generated by the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm will be supplied to Taiwan Power Company under two 20-year power purchase agreements. Once operational, the wind farm will produce renewable energy sufficient to power over 600,000 households, solidifying its position as one of Taiwan's largest offshore wind farms.
Situated in the Taiwan Strait, the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 8 to 17 kilometers off the west coast, with water depths ranging from 7 to 35 meters and an expanse of approximately 82 square kilometers. The electricity generated by 80 wind turbines within the farm will be integrated into the grid through two onshore substations in Taixi Township and Sihu Township in Yunlin County.
