Vestas and Zhongneng Offshore Wind Farm Celebrate First Fully Assembled Hub in Taiwan

Vestas and Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm are pleased to co-organize a momentous event celebrating the successful completion of the first fully assembled hub in Taiwan for offshore wind turbines. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in the localization of the offshore turbine in Taiwan, and cementing the commitment to advancing Taiwan's renewable energy landscape now and in the future.
The collaboration on this project is a testament to the shared vision of advancing clean energy solutions and bolstering the offshore wind energy sector in Taiwan. During the project's execution, a total of 40 employment opportunities were created for both Vestas' seasoned employees and talents from Fortune Electric Co., Ltd, underscoring the commitment to knowledge sharing and skills development within the local workforce. The largest component of the hub, the 34-ton casting, was produced by YGG in their Taichung foundry.
Looking ahead, Vestas has expressed its intention to expand its footprint in Taiwan and committed to further advancing the offshore wind energy sector in Taiwan with Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm, and to continue assembling hubs and nacelles that will drive the region's renewable energy transformation and lead the way towards a greener and more energy-efficient future.
To commemorate this remarkable achievement, the event is graced by the presence of key leaders from cooperations of the projects. Their attendance serves as a testament to the importance of this milestone for the broader renewable energy sector in the region.

“The fully assembled wind turbine hub represents another significant leap forward in Vestas’ efforts to contribute to Taiwan’s sustainable energy future. Not only on manufacturing but also on transferring and enhancing the skills and knowledge necessary to build a sustainable supply chain.” Says Alex Robertson, General Manager at Vestas Taiwan “This achievement comes at an important time in Taiwan’s offshore wind development as the rules for the round 3.2 auction are being finalized. Vestas hopes that the localization policy will continue to support suppliers like Vestas who have shown sustained commitment, made significant investments and delivered results on local content policy thus far.”
“Zhong Neng project, as one of the most localized windfarms in Taiwan, together with Vestas have collaborated in the localization of more than 10 key components of offshore turbines,” says Shyi-Chin Wang, Chairman of Zhong Neng. The completion of the first fully assembled hub witnessed here in Taiwan today is not only a great significance to the Zhong Neng Wind Farm, but also a milestone to the local supply chain. “The first assembled hub, then upcoming, Zhong Neng’s first assembled nacelle, first assembled tower and blades, through this constant collaboration between Vestas and Zhong Neng, will be a testament to our contribution to the industry in Taiwan and our dedication to sustainable energy solutions, bringing clean energy to the needs in Taiwan.”
Marina Hsu, Managing Director of Copenhagen Infrastructure Service Company Taiwan, says, “Two years ago, we held a groundbreaking ceremony here with Fortune to build a nacelle assembly facility. It is very meaningful for us to see assembly activities ongoing in this building today. We are proud for Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm to be the first project that use locally assembled hubs. This project shows the potential of the local supply chain, and we believe this technology transfer can further diversify and mature supply chain competence.”
