Yunneng Yulin OWF Powering Over 216,000 Households Annually and Aims for Completion by 2024

Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd., the constructor and operator of Offshore Wind Farm Yunlin (OWF Yunlin), announced (March 4th) that as of the end of 2023, wind turbines with grid connection have contributed to 880 million kWh (880 GWh) energy generation, equivalent to the annual power consumption of over 216,000 households. Yunneng is expected to commence underwater foundation installation work in March, aiming to complete the installation of 80 turbines by the end of this year.
The Yulin OWF project is located in the waters approximately 8 to 17 kilometers off the coast of Sihu Township and Kouhu Township in Yunlin County. To ensure the safety of personnel, vessels, and construction, the Maritime Port Bureau, MOTC, has issued a notice specifying the navigation avoidance range for wind farm construction. Before each underwater foundation installation, the specific coordinates of each foundation installation operation will be announced. A safety warning zone with a radius of 1500 meters will be designated based on the nature of the installation operation fleet to prevent neighboring vessels from inadvertently entering the construction safety zone, thus causing safety concerns.
Yulin OWF is Taiwan's first wind farm to achieve 100% localization commitment and complete cross-sea technology transfer. Since 2021, the Yunlin offshore wind farm has been cooperating with local fishermen's associations to conduct on-site investigations of fisheries economics and jointly establish information on nearshore fishing operations and catch data with fishermen. The results of the investigations over the past 3 years have shown no significant changes in the Yunlin area's composition and quantity of catches.
