Taipower held its general manager handover ceremony on the 11th, at Taipower headquarters. Outgoing General Manager Yao-Ting Wang formally stepped down, with former Deputy General Manager Tien-Ho Kuo assuming the position. The ceremony was witnessed by Taipower directors and executives, and supervised by Chien-Hsin Lai, Administrative Deputy Minister of the MOEA.
New General Manager Kuo Tien-ho said he began his career at the frontline of power generation and has a deep commitment to the electricity sector. Returning to Taipower, he said, brings not only warmth but also a stronger sense of mission for the future. He thanked General Manager Wang for laying a solid foundation.
Kuo stated that he will work with Taipower's 30,000 employees to meet emerging global challenges, including net-zero carbon emissions, AI-driven growth, and changing energy conditions. He pledged to continue developing diversified energy sources, accelerate nationwide grid resilience projects, implement digital transformation, and ensure stable power supply to support people’s livelihoods, industrial development, and urban competitiveness.
Taipower noted that Kuo joined the company in 1988 as a mechanical engineer at Hsinta Power Plant and later served at the Talin and Tatan power plants. He became Director of the Power Generation Department at the end of 2020, overseeing Taipower's 21 hydro and thermal power plants. On August 1, 2021, he was promoted to Deputy General Manager and CEO of the Hydro and Thermal Power Business Division. After retiring on July 16, 2025, he returned today to serve as General Manager.
Outgoing General Manager Yao-Ting Wang devoted nearly 40 years to Taipower after joining the company in 1987. Rising from frontline roles, he became Director of the Distribution Department in 2015, managing the national power network supporting daily electricity use. He assumed the role of General Manager on March 8, 2022, after serving as Deputy General Manager and CEO of the Power Distribution and Service Business Division. During his tenure, he advanced energy transition, promoted new gas-fired units at Tatan and Hsinta, strengthened power supply stability, completed undergrounding work along the Ping'e Highway, and pushed forward grid resilience projects. During typhoons Danas and Krathon, he personally led emergency response efforts, coordinated cross-regional support, and accelerated power restoration.
