Catenation International Co., Ltd., an engineering company based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has achieved a significant advancement in Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technology through its patented liquid distributor for carbon dioxide absorber towers. By optimizing the tower's internal components, the technology increases carbon capture efficiency from the conventional 60–70% range to more than 90%, strengthening Taiwan's position in the global CCUS technology chain.

Founded in 2019, Catenation International specializes in turnkey planning and production-line development for waste treatment facilities, including industrial waste, bulky waste and food waste systems. The company supports the conversion of waste into derived fuels and biomass fuels, advancing circular economy practices in Taiwan. Guided by its core values of "integrity, innovation and breakthrough," the company has extended its engineering experience in incineration plants and large-scale process equipment into the core field of net-zero technology.

The patented liquid distributor uses a V-shaped guiding structure to improve gas-liquid contact uniformity inside absorber towers, while reducing performance degradation caused by clogged spray holes. Combined with an absorbent regeneration and circulation mechanism, the design helps lower solvent loss and system energy consumption. Catenation International explained: "It is like a filter sponge—if only part of it is wet, water will pass through only that area and the full effect cannot be achieved. The same applies to absorber towers. If liquid distribution is uneven, a system originally designed for 60–70% capture efficiency may suffer a further decline of 20–30%."

The company plans to integrate the patented liquid distributor into its AI-enabled high-efficiency incinerator BOT project. Because the design can be adapted to tower processes involving gas-liquid contact, its application potential extends beyond carbon capture. Catenation International has also secured multiple invention patents covering bottom ash treatment and sorting, bamboo-based biomass pellet fuel, solid recovered fuel production and recycling lines, and combustible waste treatment systems.

In line with Taiwan's policy direction on resource circulation and stricter solid recovered fuel management, Catenation International said CCUS is shifting from demonstration projects to a standard configuration for large-scale process design. The company stated that it will continue to build on "integrity, innovation and breakthrough," deepening its work in waste resource recovery, biomass energy and carbon capture to provide high-quality, high-efficiency and highly stable engineering solutions for Taiwan's manufacturing and environmental industries.
