|RWE Secures Feasibility Licence for 2GW Kent Offshore Wind Farm
RWE Renewables has been granted a feasibility licence for the construction of the Kent Offshore Wind Farm, with a capacity of up to 2 GW. The wind farm is located off the coast of Gippsland in Victoria, Australia. This licence provides RWE with a 7-year development period to obtain all necessary permits. The Kent Offshore Wind Farm is expected to be completed and operational by the early 2030s.

In May of this year, the Australian government issued feasibility licences for 6 offshore wind projects and announced that another 6 projects would receive feasibility licences. These 12 projects collectively aim to deliver a total installed capacity of 25 GW of clean wind energy.

Sven Utermöhlen, Chief Executive of Offshore Wind at RWE, stated, "Australia is a significant growth market for renewable energy. RWE has been established in Australia for 10 years and operates one of the country's largest solar farms. By securing exclusive seabed rights in the Gippsland Basin, we are officially entering the Australian offshore wind market."

|SeadragonOffshore Wind Project Blocked: Flotation Energy Sues Federal Energy Minister
A company planning to build Australia's first offshore wind farm is taking Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen to court due to his decision not to grant a permit for the project's advancement. Flotation Energy had proposed constructing the Seadragon Wind Farm off the coast of Gippsland, Victoria, which would include up to 150 wind turbines and an underwater cable network.

The minister rejected the feasibility permit application, citing the project as a lower-value "overlapping" project. In response, Seadragon requested a feasibility permit for a smaller area to eliminate any overlap, but this request was also denied. The company is now seeking legal recourse to overturn this decision and have the feasibility permit for the smaller area reconsidered.

|Saemangeum Offshore Wind Project Fails Due to Permit Revocation
At the recent 299th Korea Electricity Regulatory Commission meeting, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy revoked the permit for the "Saemangeum Offshore Wind Project" based on the audit notice issued last year. The permit was canceled because the project applicant submitted a falsified shareholder list to obtain the permit improperly. The committee unanimously decided to revoke the Saemangeum project's permit, and unless otherwise ruled by a court, the current sanction will remain in effect. The Saemangeum project may file further administrative litigation, but subsequent actions are currently under review.

The Saemangeum Offshore Wind Project is located in the common water area within the Saemangeum 3-4 seawall, with a total scale of 440 billion KRW, involving the installation of 28 wind turbines. Of the total investment, 400 billion KRW is allocated for power generation equipment and 40 billion KRW for manufacturing facilities. Following the 2022 audit results, the project’s permit transfer was revoked due to the submission of a falsified shareholder list and other violations.
