British Standards Institution (BSI Taiwan) hosted the 2022 BSI Sustainability Standards Summit aiming the International standards & sustainable finance
During the 2022 Global Corporate Sustainability Forum (2022 GCSF) held in the Taipei Grand Hotel on November 17, British Standards Institution ( BSI Taiwan )hosted the 2022 BSI Sustainability Standards Summit, with this year’s theme “International Standards & Sustainable Finance." Over 600 participants, including guests from both the public and private sectors, attended the conference, and discussions were led by distinguished figures from both sectors around “green finance” and establishing sustainable environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) ecosystems with the goal of enhancing organizational resilience and excellence.
The International Organizational Resilience Awards were also presented during the awards ceremony to enterprises who have strived to incorporate various aspects of sustainable ESG (in accordance with BSI’s Sustainability Report and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)) into their organizations. A total of 32 exemplary enterprises received recognition this year for their ongoing efforts, impact and influence they’ve brought to Taiwan’s manufacturing, finance and service industries.
In recent years, the Financial Supervisory Commission has been actively advocating and pushing for a variety of sustainable finance initiatives with the goal of facilitating enterprises' and investors’ attention on ESG-related matters and emphasizing the importance of striking a fine balance between profitability and sustainable development.
This year’s conference announced the newest ISO 32210:2022 Sustainable Finance and invited keynote speakers, General Manager of Google Cloud Taiwan, Liang-Chen Hsieh, CEO of Chase Sustainable Technology, Shao-Shin Hsu, Vice General Manager of Yulon Finance Corporation, Chun-Sheng Lin, and Professor of Graduate Institute of Public Affairs at Feng Chia University, Sheng-Chung Ho, to shed light on the innovative ways technology is being implemented in social innovation as a means to achieve carbon reduction and contributing to efforts to build a sustainable society and ecosystem.
The General Manager of BSI Northeast Asia, Shu-Sheng Pu, expresses:“Sustainable development and netzero are both the highlights of a common global effort. We need to be even more strategic, intelligent, versatile, and intentional in our methodology. Industries must collaborate within themselves as well as across different disciplines to proactively establish ESP ecosystems and economies. The integration of sustainability and digital trust is critical for organizational resilience and is instrumental to achieving a net zero and sustainable revolution.”
The summit was also honored with the presence of the Chairman of Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (TAISE) and current ambassador at large, Eugene Chien as the opening speaker and awards presenter.
This year’s Sustainability Resilience Award trophies were made of processed recycled concrete mixed with silica sand for a modern yet minimalistic look, commensurate with global ESG and net zero trends to fully embody the essence of carbon reduction.
The winning enterprises of this year’s Sustainability Resilience Awards have shown exceptional progress and impact in the following three areas: • Long-standing, impeccable records from 3rd party auditors for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & ESG Sustainability Reports, with emphasis on transparency and integrity. • Multi-faceted and well-balanced ISO corporate development across multiple ESG criteria with meticulous risk assessment and management. • Achieving many of the UN’s 17 SDG Goals with verification by numerous ISO standards.
