|Taiwan's Hardware Fastener Manufacturer PATTA Plans to Invest Over 3 Billion in Kaohsiung to Establish a Low-Carbon 5G Smart Factory
Established initially as a hardware fastener manufacturer, "PATTA" has evolved into a world-class supplier of various hardware components. A groundbreaking ceremony for their new plant was recently held at the Renwu Industrial Park. With an investment of NT$3.1 billion, this project will focus on producing and developing high-value-added products. Additionally, the plant will be equipped with the latest energy-efficient and intelligent production facilities, along with an energy management system, to create a low-carbon 5G Smart Factory. Production is expected to commence as early as the second quarter of 2026.

The project to extend the High-Speed Rail (HSR) to Pingtung is currently in the comprehensive planning stage. Recently, concerns have been raised about the operational risks associated with the prioritized "Zuoying Route." In response, a proposal has been initiated on the "Public Policy Network Participation Platform" to alter the HSR extension to follow the "Kaohsiung Route", entering the Taiwan Railways Kaohsiung Station. In less than two weeks, the proposal has garnered over 2,000 signatures.

In the past, the southern Kaohsiung and Pingtung regions relied on heavy industries such as metal petrochemicals and manufacturing. However, over the past two years, the manufacturing sector has faced pressure to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in response to international trends and industrial transformation. The Bureau of Industrial Parks has commissioned the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) to propose an innovative dual green and low-carbon plan. This plan aims to reduce the energy consumption and carbon emissions in the production and manufacturing processes of the industrial chain, and promote recycling and reuse. It is anticipated that a systematic operational model will drive industrial transformation.
