Taipower's Electricity Carbon Emission Factor Drops to 0.467 kg CO₂e/kWh; MOEA Reports Progress in Energy Transition
The Energy Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) announced on June 2 that the 2025 electricity carbon emission factor for public electricity retailers has decreased to 0.467 kg CO₂e/kWh, representing a 1.5% reduction from 2024 and an overall decline of approximately 12% compared with 2016.

On, 2nd June, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Department of Industrial Technology opened the AI X Innovation Pavilion at InnoVEX, showcasing 31 cutting-edge technologies spanning smart machinery, communications, green energy, semiconductors, biotechnology, and medical devices. The exhibition features achievements from the TREE Program (Taiwan Research-Institute Advanced Technology Entrepreneur Ecosystem Program, TREE) and winners of the "2026 Best AI Awards", highlighting Taiwan's growing strength in AI innovation and cross-sector applications.

MTIC Launches First-Ever "Blue Tech 2026 Ocean Technology Day"; Showcasing Taiwan's Innovation Strength in Marine Technology and Offshore Renewable Energy
The Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) hosted "Blue Tech 2026 Ocean Technology Day" on May 27 at the Marine Technology Industrial Innovation Center (MTIC) in Kaohsiung. The event marked the first large-scale marine technology exhibition since MTIC's establishment. The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by Deputy Director General Chung-Hsien Chen of the Energy Administration, MOEA, and MIRDC Chairperson Chia-Ju Liu, highlighting developments in marine technology, offshore wind O&M, and emerging ocean energy industries.

Taiwan Launches AI Robotics Innovation & Development Center; Vice President Hsiao Highlights AI Localization
Vice President Bi-Khim Hsiao attended the inauguration of the "AI Robotics Innovation & Development Center" (ARIDC) in Tainan on May 19, describing the launch as a major milestone in Taiwan's 10 AI Initiatives Promotion Plan (臺灣 AI 新十大建設). Hsiao said the Executive Yuan has approved the "Smart Robotics Industry Development Plan", integrated with the "Greater Southern New Silicon Valley Promotion Plan," (大南方新矽谷方案) aimed at strengthening Taiwan's capabilities in intelligent system integration and advancing the country from a global hardware manufacturing hub to a key exporter of smart solutions.

Since September 27, 112 (2023), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has conducted several sessions to elucidate the offshore wind zonal development contract (draft) and sought opinions from various sectors. The MOEA announced the "Offshore Wind Power Zonal Development Site Capacity Allocation Guidelines" today (23) for the zonal development stage 2 auction, presenting flexible approaches to ensure the timely and high-quality completion and commercialization of all future wind farm development projects.

On October 23, 2023, the Huanyang Offshore Wind Farm jointly held by EDF Renewables (80.1%) and Taiya Renewable (19.9%) announced its renaming as the "Wei Lan Hai Changhua Offshore Wind Project." "Wei Lan Hai" represents the most iconic and enchanting stretch of the southern French Mediterranean coastline, while the new project logo incorporates a local landmark, the Changhua Fangyuan Lighthouse, in addition to the symbolism of offshore wind waves and turbines, underscoring the project's close ties to the local community.
