The announcement of the Climate Change Response Act has prompted the EPA to develop the carbon levy by the year-end. This will impact how corporations pay based on their carbon consumption. To address this, a digital platform was proposed in the "Green Finance, Sustainable Business, and Corporate Power Purchase Contracts" seminar organized by PwC Taiwan and the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan Low Carbon Initiative (ECCT LCI). The platform aims to provide a carbon inventory of corporate cloud collaborative operations, with discussions on carbon fees and calculation methods.

At the seminar, Mr. Sean Mc Dermott, Vice Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce Low Carbon Initiative, thanked the government for sharing digital carbon reduction solutions. Deputy Director-General of Administration for Digital Industries, Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) Betty Hu, discussed MODA's use of AI process parameter optimization and intelligent scheduling search technology to assist Taiwan's industries in achieving net zero carbon emissions. Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, Taipei City Government, Sheng Chung Wu mentioned that the carbon emission of Taipei City mainly comes from residential, commercial, and transportation sectors.

  Chun Hung Lu, Director of PwC Taiwan, introduced the firm's self-developed "Carbon Calculator" which provides enterprises with a cloud-based collaborative carbon inventory environment through a digital platform. This tool facilitates organizational carbon inventory calculations and sets up a base year, allowing companies to achieve short, medium, and long-term energy-saving and carbon reduction goals. Scania's Business Development Director, Mr. David Lin, discussed the importance of zero-carbon transportation to be competitive. He suggested electrifying urban vehicles such as buses and garbage trucks.

Sammy Su from ECCT LCI affirmed the forum's role in promoting carbon reduction and sustainable urban development. Taiwan plans to promote the electrification of new motorcycle sales in 2040 and use green electricity for charging piles.

Chih Wen Huang, Chief of 6th Division Section, Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, MOEA, will study the feasible business model and economic benefits, with a plan to build a demonstration field in Tainan within a year or two.

Dr. Wei Ming Huang, Technical Superintendent, EPA, presented EPA's Carbon Offset Policy and Mechanism for the enterprise to develop the reduction measures in greenhouse gas emissions incremental offset, promoting the replacement of old vehicles with electric ones, and expanding to the agricultural sector. Taiwan's carbon pricing is also still under discussion.
