MOEA Approves Nearly NT$74 Billion in Offshore Wind Investments from Ørsted and Hai Long Projects
The Department of Investment Review, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) approved 11 major investment cases at its 33rd meeting held on July 30, including 2 offshore wind power investment projects by Ørsted and Hai Long, with a combined value of approximately NT$73.95 billion.
Among the approved foreign investment cases, Danish company Orsted Wind Power TW Holding A/S was approved to provide a NT$40 billion loan investment in Orsted Greater Changhua NW Holdings Ltd. to support operational expenditures related to the construction of the Greater Changhua Offshore Wind Farm NW Ltd.
Meanwhile, Dutch company MIT Hai Long Wind Power B.V. received approval to inject approximately NT$33.95 billion equivalent in foreign currency into Yushan Energy Co., Ltd., which will further invest in Hai Long 2 &3 Offshore Wind Power projects to fund construction-related costs.
The MOEA also approved nine outbound investment projects totaling approximately US$1.63 billion. The approved investments cover industries including biotechnology, semiconductor packaging and testing, communications equipment manufacturing, electronic manufacturing, industrial computers, banking, and cloud computing infrastructure. Major cases include Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE)'s investment in Malaysia for advanced chip packaging and testing operations, and MiTAC's expansion of cloud server manufacturing facilities in the United States.
The MOEA stated that the approved investment projects demonstrate continued corporate expansion in global markets while supporting key industries such as renewable energy, high technology, and advanced manufacturing.
