Safety Advocacy Day at Hai Long Project – Partner Companies Unite in Commitment to Workplace Safety Standards
The Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm Project (hereinafter referred to as the "Hai Long Project") hosted a "Safety Advocacy Day" workshop today (30th), bringing together ten key partner companies to share experiences and learn collaboratively. Through this workshop, the importance of workplace safety was emphasized, with professional speakers presenting two specialized lectures. Together with all attendees, a joint safety declaration was signed, pledging to prioritize health and safety and to work collectively towards a safer work environment.
The Hai Long Project aims to strengthen the commitment to safety throughout the construction of the wind farm by fostering experience-sharing and mutual learning among team members and major contractors, upholding the highest standards of safety. The project firmly believes that deepening collaboration is essential to creating a safer workplace for all involved.
The workshop agenda, organized by the Hai Long Project, included an "Impact Discussion Session" to explore the potential changes and influences of safety issues and strategies for fostering positive change. Additionally, an introduction to the six "Hai Long Project Golden Safety Rules" was provided, with two external professional speakers facilitating the event.
One of the speakers, Dylan Skelhorn, shared his personal experience of falling from a height in 2011 due to inadequate safety measures, an accident that left him reliant on crutches for life. By sharing his story, he underscored the critical importance of workplace safety to all attendees.
Chris Harvey, HSSE Director, expressed hope that this Safety Advocacy Day workshop would bring team members and key partners together to reflect on past practices and set goals for the future. Through various activities, he encouraged all participants to maintain a strong focus on safety and to uphold the highest HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) standards, building a safer work environment together.
In total, the Hai Long Project invited ten key partner companies to participate, including CDWE-DEME Wind Engineering-DEME Group, Century Wind Power Co., Ltd., CWind Taiwan, Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) Singapore, PTSC Mechanical & Construction, Seaway7, SEMCO Maritime, Siemens Gamesa, underwater foundation supplier SK oceanplant Co., Ltd., and TECO Electric Limited.
