The leading renewable energy company, Ørsted, was awarded the Ministry of Labor's 2024 "Work-Life Balance Award (WLBA)" yesterday (30th), through its diverse initiatives and industry-leading flexible policies. The WLBA, the highest national honor established by the Ministry of Labor, acknowledges companies' commitment to employee well-being. Ørsted stood out among 251 companies this year to receive the "Flexible Work Award," making it the only energy company to win the award twice.

Christy Wang, Chair of Ørsted Taiwan, stated, "We are honored to receive the WLBA again this year. Ørsted is committed to building green energy sustainably, believing that our employees are the driving force behind this mission. Guided by the principle, ‘Build green energy, powered by people,' Ørsted strives to create a future in green energy that is supportive of employees, beneficial to society, advantageous to the industry, and responsible to the environment. We will continue to support all our employees, providing practical and effective measures to help them balance work and life, enabling them to reach their full potential."

Ørsted offers leave and flexible work policies that go beyond the Labor Standards Act, including benefits such as 20 weeks of fully paid leave for primary caregivers of newborns and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers, regardless of gender, position, or work location. Introduced in 2023, this policy has seen enthusiastic uptake, with 70% of paternity leave applications coming from male employees, demonstrating its positive impact in supporting family care.

Additionally, Ørsted employees can benefit from flexible working hours, remote work options, and 7 days of fully paid family care leave, allowing them to attend to family needs without concern. Since 2023, new Ørsted employees have also been eligible for 21 days of annual leave, 20 days of fully paid sick leave, and 30 days of half-paid sick leave within their first year, providing ample support for their physical and mental well-being.

Each year, Ørsted also provides "Flexible Benefits" that help cover the cost of fitness classes or health check-ups, along with an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which includes five in-person counseling sessions, parent-child education, stress relief courses, and more. From 2022 to 2023, over 40% of Ørsted employees utilized this program, far exceeding the industry average of 3-5%, with a satisfaction rate of 90%, underscoring the program’s positive impact on employees' mental and physical health.

According to Ørsted's annual employee survey, nearly 90% of employees express strong loyalty to the company and resonate with its efforts to balance work and life. This recognition will continue to inspire Ørsted to improve and create a family-friendly, flexible work environment that supports employees in realizing their potential in the future of green energy.
