|EU Passes Legislative Regulations Enhancing Building Energy Efficiency
The European Parliament has pushed for amendments to environmental policies to reduce energy costs in response to climate change. On the 12th, the European Parliament passed revisions to the "Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)" legislation, which regulates carbon emissions and fossil fuel import requirements for buildings to improve energy efficiency.

In order to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, Germany plans to loosen regulations to allow industries with high carbon emissions and difficulties in carbon reduction to use Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to sequester carbon in the seabed. Germany estimates that the North Sea has a carbon dioxide storage capacity of approximately 1.5 to 8.3 billion tons, potentially storing 20 million tons annually.

According to Taipower statistics, due to stable weather conditions in recent days, the combined electricity generation from solar and wind power reached 10.53 GW on the 12th, setting a new historical record. Taipower stated that maintaining a green energy penetration rate of over 35% allowed for the reduction of operation at outdated coal-fired power plants such as Taichung Power Plant, Ho-Ping Power Station, and Mailiao Power Plant. The solar power generation on the 12th reached 8.558 million kWh, surpassing the output from coal-fired power generation.
