2023 BSI International Standard Summit: Focusing on Digital Trust and Sustainable Development to Empower Enterprises in Global Risk Management, Opportunities, and Resilience

The British Standards Institution (BSI) hosted the 21st "2023 BSI International Standard Summit" on the 14th of this month. BSI experts provided insights into the latest standards and international trends set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), covering AI, carbon neutrality, sustainable finance, and management. The summit facilitated discussions on current global and domestic trends in cybersecurity and sustainability, sharing outstanding case studies. The event comprehensively explored the two pillars of organizational resilience: digital trust and sustainable development. Recognition was awarded to 50 outstanding domestic enterprises this year.
BSI recently published the global survey report titled "Shaping Society 5.0," delving into the opportunities and impacts of AI. Among the respondents, 29% stated that the primary goal of AI is to help reduce our environmental impact, creating a more sustainable future. One of the conference speakers, Qixun Wu, the Editor in Chief of iThome, analyzed from the 2023 CIO survey that when companies actively undergo digital transformation and embrace AI technology, the rise of cybersecurity threats possesses the power to disrupt competitive advantages. In this era full of opportunities and challenges, how businesses perceive digital transformation, digital sustainability, and digital resilience becomes a critical issue.
Peter Pu, Managing Director of BSI stated, "By observing the development of international standards, we can clearly foresee global management trends, supply chain requirements, and compliance directions for the next five to ten years. This aids companies in formulating strategies that meet future development needs and proactively addressing unknown risks and challenges. Therefore, BSI believes that digital transformation and sustainable development are the two pillars of organizational resilience. By fully leveraging the positive power of AI, we can achieve profound social impact, improve lives, and rapidly move towards a better, sustainable future. Additionally, BSI is not only committed to achieving the group's sustainability promise of reaching net-zero targets by 2030 but is also actively leading industry transformation, promoting hybrid audit services, and on-demand online courses. In the future, we will continue to cultivate talents in digital trust, cybersecurity, sustainability, and carbon management domestically, assisting Taiwanese enterprises in responding to the ESG wave and enhancing competitiveness. This is BSI's primary mission in Taiwan."
During this event, Chairman Lin Hsiu-Ming of the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange (TCX) and Peter Pu, Managing Director of BSI, jointly unveiled an exclusive collaboration. The partnership introduces dual-branded carbon management certification courses and globally accepted BSI talent qualifications. This initiative is designed to enhance the practical carbon management skills of domestic organizations, aligning them with international standards and cultivating a pool of environmentally conscious professionals.
