CIP Changfang & Xidao Team and Investor Delegation Visit CWP's Taipei Port Jacket Foundation Facility
A delegation, including the founder and major shareholders of CIP, investors from large financial institutions in Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific, and international media representatives, visited Century Wind Power Co., Ltd. (CWP) at the Taipei Port plant today (22nd). This visit is part of a series of activities marking the completion of the CIP Changfang & Xidao wind farm project.
The collaboration between CWP and CIP began in 2017 when CWP began to venture into the field of offshore wind jacket foundations. CIP introduced international experience and technology to CWP, assisting in the planning of the Taipei Port offshore wind jacket foundation plant and production lines. In 2018, the 2 parties signed a contract for the supply of 62 jacket foundations for the Changfang & Xidao project, followed by an agreement for the supply of 69 pin piles.
The CIP Changfang & Xidao project was CWP's first jacket foundation manufacturing project, enabling CWP to achieve a production capacity of approximately 4 jacket foundations per month by the second half of 2022. The project was completed ahead of schedule in July 2023, with the delivery and loading of all 62 jacket foundations. This successful experience has bolstered confidence in timely completing the jacket foundation manufacturing for the Fengmiao Phase 1 & 2 offshore wind farm projects.
Wen-Xiang Lai, Chairman of Century Iron and Steel Industrial Co., expressed his gratitude, stating: "We appreciate CIP's milestone-based financing support in the Changfang & Xidao project contract, which facilitated the construction of the tallest single-story plant globally at Taipei Port. This facility is also the world's only plant capable of 24-hour indoor jacket assembly, ensuring safe and uninterrupted progress. CIP also dispatched international technical and supervisory personnel to assist us, particularly during the challenging period of the 2022 pandemic. We are especially grateful for the additional support from CIP that helped us overcome numerous challenges."
Recently, CIP secured over 4.4 GW of permits from the Government of Victoria, Australia, including the "Star of the South," currently Australia's largest offshore wind farm. CWP also plans to establish a plant on Bintan Island, Indonesia, to manufacture offshore wind jacket foundations, aiming to supply the Australian wind farm and other markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
