The association also endorsed the government's initiative to promote a government-backed electricity retail platform, which aims to strengthen financial guarantees for offshore wind power companies and address the challenges faced by medium-sized enterprises in purchasing green energy. -

Aug. 15 2024 The Hai Long Project Officially Announced the launch of 14 MW Production Line with Siemens Gamesa at the Taichung Nacelle Factory The Hai Long offshore wind power project (hereinafter referred to as the Hai Long project) announced today (15th) the official opening of its nacelle factory in Taichung, in collaboration with Siemens Gamesa. This partnership involves the expansion of Siemens Gamesa's nacelle assembly plant in Taichung, dedicated to producing 14 MW wind turbines for the Hai Long wind farm. The completed nacelle factory is expected to begin supplying turbines for the Hai Long wind farm in the second quarter of 2025, with offshore installation scheduled to commence in the same year. -

Aug. 15 2024 Siemens Gamesa has Officially Commenced Production of the 14 MW Wind Turbines in Taichung New Nacelle Factory Siemens Gamesa's new Taichung nacelle factory expansion project has been completed at the end of 2023 and officially commenced production on August 15. The factory specializes in manufacturing the latest 14 MW offshore wind turbine nacelles for Taiwan's offshore wind farm industry. This production milestone marks Siemens Gamesa's commitment to Taiwan's offshore wind energy sector. The Taichung nacelle factory underwent renovations and expansions in 2022, upgrading its production line from the original SG 8.0-167 DD to the new SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbine, increasing the capacity from 8 MW to 14 MW. It is projected that by the end of 2026, this facility will create 300 job opportunities. -

According to the roadmap, the Ministry will conduct competitive bidding for up to 8 GW of offshore wind projects over the next 2 years, from the second half of this year to the first half of 2026. This capacity is fifty times larger than the current installed capacity of 158.5 MW, and including last year's 1.5 GW tender, approximately 10 GW of offshore wind projects are expected to be under construction. -

On the 6th of this month, CPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Academia Sinica and National Central University (NCU) to jointly advance geothermal research, exploration, and development technologies in Taiwan. This collaboration aims to contribute significantly to the realization of the 2050 net-zero carbon emissions target. -

LS Eco Energy's representative and Pauline Chen, CEO of DFO, together signed an agreement on the 7th to support offshore wind farm construction operations. During the construction of offshore wind farms, the SOV can provide high-quality accommodation and dining services by connecting to the wind turbines and can remain at sea for over 10 days, earning the nickname "five-star hotel at sea."
