Formosa2 offshore wind farm held an inauguration ceremony

Formosa2 offshore wind farm today (16th May) held an inauguration ceremony at the Waipu Fishing Port in Miaoli to celebrate the successful construction. Located between 4 to 10 kilometers off the coast of Zhunan Township, Miaoli County, the Formosa 2 wind farm has an installed capacity of 376MW and will generate electricity to power the equivalent of approximately 380,000 households, reducing carbon emissions by 700,000 tons per year.
President Tsai with her remark stated that with all 47 wind turbine generators (WTGs) installed earlier this year and connected to the grid in March, the project officially became the 3rd offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The completion of the project itself represents significant meaning that green energy thrives in developing and more taiwan supply chains are capable of collaborating with international markets.
Tiemen Maebe, Project Director of Formosa 2 stated that this incredible achievement could not have been possible without the unwavering support from the project team, sponsors, financing and supply chain partners, and other stakeholders.
Yukio Kani, Global CEO from JERA stated that accomplishment reflects the steadfast commitment, persistence, and courage of the project team, partners, and stakeholders who have persevered through the challenges of the past few years.
Mark Dooley, Global Head of Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group (GIG) mentioned the delights to deliver two out of three commercial-scale operational offshore wind farms in Taiwan, marking another important milestone in Taiwan’s green energy transition.
Lucas Lin, Chairman of Synera Renewable Energy said that Formosa 2 is the second offshore wind project that SRE participated. SRE will continuously play a critical role in pushing forward toward the net-zero goal.
