Taiya Renewable Energy (TRE), the only local offshore developer in Taiwan, is hosting its inaugural "Summer Science Camp" event this year. From August 9th to August 11th, the event is taking place at Houlong Elementary School, Wumei Elementary School, and Zhongzheng Elementary School in Miaoli. The event has attracted the enthusiastic participation of nearly 200 students from various locations in Miaoli. Collaborating with the renowned experimental classroom "BEST Science" TRE is using offshore wind energy as its central theme. Through creative DIY experiential courses, the event aims to naturally cultivate children's interest in science and instill a sense of sustainability and environmental consciousness from an early age.

Furthermore, Taiya's entire team is involved in the event, including Chairman Mu-Lin Lu, CEO Yi-Shiu Wu, and Public Affairs Associate Manager Cong-Sheng Lin. They have actively visited elementary schools in the coastal towns of Miaoli, directly engaging with the students and serving as "Teachers of a day" through this interaction, they are helping the children gain a better understanding of the wind turbines standing in rows on the sea, a crucial symbol of Taiwan's energy transition.

A former educator and former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, Mu-Lin Lu, pointed out that Taiwan's energy transition is a necessity. It is crucial to lead children to understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), grasp the concepts of climate change and sustainable development, and instill a sense of fighting to protect the Earth for its future. As the only "pure Taiwan-local team" in offshore wind power, Taiya Renewable Energy bears a social responsibility to nurture sustainable education and introduce it to more students, raising awareness of green energy.

Therefore, after six months of planning, Taiya Renewable Energy embarked on the mission to organize science camps, starting with Miaoli. With "wind power" as the central theme of the curriculum, the company hopes to "inspire children's understanding of wind energy, open up new perspectives on energy, and let the seeds of sustainability education take root and thrive on school campuses."

CEO of Taiya Renewable Energy, Yi-Shiu Wu, stated, "Miaoli has a unique advantage in terms of wind resources. Through ESG education, we aim to make Miaoli's children deeply aware that another new hope for renewable energy in Taiwan lies offshore." This science camp incorporates the latest trends and technology in offshore wind power, including "floating turbines." Through hands-on experiments with underwater poles and buoyancy, children are engaged in DIY activities that enable them to learn by doing and vice versa. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, the camp sparks children's interest in wind power, enriches their knowledge of energy, and takes them from basic to advanced teaching methods, leading them to contemplate the relationship between life and electricity.

Yi-shiu Wu emphasized that TRE will launch a floating wind farm project off the coast of Miaoli County. Last year, the company also signed a cooperation agreement with the leading Norwegian floating offshore wind technology company, BW Ideol, to participate in the government's 2024 floating demonstration wind farm project. As a company composed of purely local resources and talents, TRE is deeply rooted in the local community and committed to promoting energy transition, achieving mutual prosperity between the company and the land of Taiwan.
