Formosatree Sets New Benchmark in Smart Grids Pioneers Low-Carbon Energy Storage Development

The Invest Taiwan Office has approved expansion investment plans from Formosatree CO. and Min-Chun Precision Co. To date, the "Three Major Programs for Investing in Taiwan" have attracted 1,680 enterprises with total investments exceeding NT$2.5464 trillion, expected to create 161,205 domestic job opportunities. Among these, the "Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by Domestic Corporations" has drawn 204 domestic enterprises to invest about NT$595 billion, creating 28,755 jobs; while the "Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs" has attracted 1,141 enterprises investing about NT$584.9 billion, creating 40,900 jobs.
Formosatree, established by the Formosa Plastics Group to integrate resources and drive the energy transition, is a professional energy storage company dedicated to providing power ancillary services and smart energy storage solutions. The company offers integrated capabilities spanning lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, modules, battery management systems (BMS), energy management systems (EMS), as well as storage system installation and operation & maintenance. It plans to provide ancillary services for Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), actively supporting the national net-zero carbon policy and offering critical support for renewable energy grid integration and power stability.
In response to strong market demand for green power and stable electricity supply, Formosatree is investing NT$4.9 billion to provide real-time frequency regulation services, enhanced by an AI-based energy decision-making system to improve stability and efficiency. The project also incorporates energy-saving and carbon-reduction facilities, such as peak shaving and load shifting systems, power transfer mechanisms, diesel generator replacement mechanisms, and measures to increase green power utilization. Formosatree will continue strengthening its energy storage deployment, promoting smart grids and low-carbon transformation, setting a new benchmark for Taiwan's energy storage industry.
Min-Chun Precision is one of the few domestic manufacturers certified for aerospace-grade five-axis machining and special hole-making processes. It has long supplied engine, fuselage, and wing structural components and participated in the development of components for Taiwan's Indigenous Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT). In recent years, the company has expanded into the space sector, independently developing multi-axis satellite base structures, which were showcased at the Washington Satellite Exhibition.
Min-Chun Precision first applied for the SME program in 2019 and, in response to the rebound in global aviation demand and the advancement of Taiwan's defense self-reliance policy, is now investing an additional NT$100 million under its second application. This investment will expand production capacity through the purchase of advanced CNC electrical discharge machining equipment and large five-axis machines, as well as the introduction of AI-based smart scheduling systems and a digital manufacturing platform to enhance production line intelligence and supply chain integration. The company is also promoting green manufacturing, including solar power generation, waste recycling, and ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas verification, to implement energy conservation and carbon reduction while obtaining international certifications. Min-Chun Precision will continue to strengthen its presence in the defense and space sectors, serving as a model for aerospace industry upgrading and net-zero transformation.
