Formosa 2 Wind Power has long been committed to supporting the development of local fisheries and ensuring the safety of fishermen. In 2024, the company donated 200 life jackets to the Nanlong District Fishermen's Association in Miaoli County. This year, responding to the needs of the fishermen, Formosa 2 further deepened its care by donating an additional 250 life jackets. A donation ceremony was held on July 21, attended by Formosa 2 CEO Nuta Chen, EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Manager Wen-Fan Lo, and several representatives from the Nanlong District Fishermen's Association. As a company aligned with the government's offshore wind power policies, Formosa 2 not only complies with relevant regulations but also actively takes on the role of safeguarding fishermen's safety by providing essential safety equipment to promote safe fishing operations.

Formosa 2 Donates Life Jackets to Enhance Fishermen's Safety in Nanlong District
Located in the typhoon belt and monsoon zone, Taiwan's ocean conditions can change rapidly. Fishermen are often exposed to hazardous environments with unstable weather and poor visibility. According to occupational injury insurance statistics, the incidence of work-related accidents in the fishing industry has consistently been over four times higher than the national average across all sectors, underscoring the urgent need for more attention and practical support for fishermen's safety.1 Statistics also show that the risk of accidents significantly increases when fishermen do not wear life jackets in adverse sea conditions.2

Fully understanding the harsh conditions fishermen face, Formosa 2 places great importance on frontline safety. As a long-term local partner committed to 20 years of operations, the company has collaborated with the Nanlong District Fishermen's Association since 2024, donating a total of 450 inflatable life jackets certified by SOLAS, EC, and CCS, to meet the association's requests and ensure that every fisherman is equipped with basic personal safety gear. Today's donation ceremony was attended by Formosa 2 CEO Mei-Ju Chen and EHS Manager Wen-Fan Lo, alongside Association Chairman Tie-Lin Liu and Secretary-General Te-Kun Yen. To ensure the life jackets function properly in emergencies, a manufacturer was invited to the event to demonstrate the correct way to wear them, and explain important safety and maintenance tips to the attending fishermen and association representatives. These hands-on demonstrations aimed to strengthen fishermen's awareness of personal protection and enhance their practical safety skills, collectively improving offshore safety practices.

Nanlong District Fishermen's Association Secretary-General Te-Kun Yen expressed, "We sincerely thank Formosa 2 Wind Power for its long-term commitment to local engagement and fishermen's safety. The company has not only maintained active communication with the association but also provided tangible support. Since 2024, they have donated a total of 450 lightweight life jackets, improving both our daily operational safety and emergency preparedness. This has made a real difference to our working environment. We look forward to continued cooperation with Formosa 2, as we move forward together in caring for our fishermen."
