CDWE and CIP Renew Partnership: Contract Signed for Fengmiao Offshore Wind Farm Foundation and Substation Installation

CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering Co., Ltd. (CDWE), a subsidiary of CSBC Corporation Taiwan (hereafter referred to as CSBC Taiwan), has further strengthened its collaboration with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Building on the successful partnerships established during the Changfang & Xidao and Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farms, CDWE recently signed an additional contract for the transportation and installation of underwater foundations and offshore substations for the Fengmiao 1 Offshore Wind Farm. This follows the agreement signed in June 2024 for the transport and installation of underwater foundations. These operations will utilize "Green Jade," Taiwan's first locally-built offshore wind installation vessel, constructed by CSBC Taiwan. Construction is scheduled to commence in Q1 2026, including the installation of 33 jacket foundations, 99 foundation piles, and one offshore substation.
CIP’s Fengmiao 1 Offshore Wind Farm is part of Taiwan's Round 3 Zonal Development Phase 1 and boasts an installed capacity of 500 MW. Located approximately 35 kilometers off the coast of Taichung, it represents the third offshore wind farm project entrusted to CDWE by CIP, following Changfang & Xidao and Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farms.
The Fengmiao 1 project also collaborates with Belgium-based Jan De Nul and Netherlands-based Van Oord for the installation of export and array cables. Both firms are globally recognized leaders in maritime engineering, with extensive expertise in offshore wind power projects both locally and internationally. Their involvement is expected to contribute significantly to the smooth progress of the Fengmiao 1 construction.

Joris Hol, Project Director for Fengmiao 1 Offshore Wind Farm, remarked: "Since the bidding phase in 2022, Fengmiao 1 has strategically secured marine resources and vessel schedules through significant early investments. After prolonged negotiations between our procurement team and supplier partners, we have achieved the current milestones. In an era of limited vessel availability, completing all marine engineering contracts for Fengmiao 1 lays a solid foundation for timely grid connection."
Marina Hsu, Regional President of CIP, added: "Fengmiao 1 has recently achieved a series of significant milestones, reflecting the trust of supply chain partners, financial institutions, green power customers, and the government in CIP. As CIP continues to advance offshore wind development in Taiwan, we aim to position ourselves as the preferred supplier of stable and large-scale green energy for Taiwanese enterprises."
