Shinfox Energy Celebrates Earth Day by Partnering with the "Forest Creation Alliance" to Plant Trees and Promote Sustainable Carbon Reduction
Shinfox Energy and its subsidiaries have launched a comprehensive tree-planting and afforestation initiative as part of their sustainable carbon reduction efforts. Ahead of Earth Day, Shinfox Energy completed annual tree-planting operation in a newly established forestation area in Chishang, Taitung (south of the Southern Cross-Island Highway). Shinfox Energy also joined New Taipei City Government's "One Million People Plant One Million Trees" campaign and supported the "Earth Solutions" initiative led by 5% Design Action. The initiative, promoted by Fox Forest and the "Corporate Forest Creation Alliance," emphasizes large-scale afforestation as a nature-based solution.

PwC Taiwan Proposes 3 Strategies for Taiwanese Businesses in ASEAN to Address Trump's Tariff Shock
On April 2, U.S. President Trump announced a new policy enforcing reciprocal tariff rates. Although implementation has been temporarily paused for 90 days, it has already caused global trade turmoil. The uncertainty becomes the new norm in international trade. As one of the key regions exporting to the U.S., ASEAN countries swiftly responded, launching trade negotiations with the U.S. Vietnam and Cambodia were the first to express willingness to lower import tariffs on U.S. goods. Meanwhile, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia have all indicated plans to increase imports from the U.S. to reduce trade deficits, and none of them plan to impose retaliatory tariffs—each is striving to find solutions to mitigate the impact of U.S. tariffs.

MOENV Launched "Net-Zero Green-Collar Talent Training Program" Started in April
To accelerate the cultivation of such professionals, the National Environmental Research Institute (NERA) of the Ministry of the Environment(MOENV), in collaboration with 28 universities nationwide, has established the "Net-Zero Green-Collar Talent Training Alliance" and launched a 48-hour "Net-Zero Green-Collar Talent Training Program." The course fee is NT$12,000, with discounts available for students under 30 and those from low-income households. The goal is to quickly address the shortage of green-collar talent through the dual-track approach of policy and educational resources.

With regards to media reporting once again that Taipower's losses came from Feed-in Tariff price of offshore wind, the Ministry of Economic Affairs(MOEA) pointed out that Taipower's losses were mainly due to the rise in international fuel prices from 2022 to 2024, which put Taipower under huge fuel cost pressure and were not directly related to the development of offshore wind.

HDRE Expands Investment Footprint in Australia: ZEBRE Platform Secures an Additional 795 MW Greenfield Projects
HD Renewable Energy (HDRE) convened its Board of Directors today (March 21), approving an additional investment of approximately NT$290 million (AUD 14 million) through its Australian asset management platform, ZEBRE. This brings HDRE's cumulative investment to around NT$1.18 billion (AUD 57 million). Through this latest initiative, HDRE has secured development rights for four greenfield projects located in New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), and Queensland (QLD), with a preliminary planned development capacity totaling 795 MW. This move further strengthens HDRE's strategic presence and competitiveness in Australia's solar and energy storage markets.

640 MW Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm Officially Commissioned; Propelling Taiwan's Offshore Wind Capacity Surpasses 3 GW
Yunneng Wind Power (hereinafter "Yunneng") announced on 4th that Taiwan's Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm has been officially commissioned with a total installed capacity of 640 MW and is now fully connected to the grid and operational. This wind farm is the second largest single-site operational wind project in Taiwan. Its completion represents a significant milestone in Taiwan's offshore wind industry, pushing the nation's offshore wind capacity beyond 3.04 GW and elevating Yunlin County to the third position among all counties and cities in terms of renewable energy installed capacity, thereby creating sustainable value for Taiwan's energy transition.

Taiwan Renewable Energy Association (TREA) Highlights 3 Major Concerns Over the RE30 Electricity Compartment System, Urges Government to Postpone Implementation
On the 20th, the Taiwan Renewable Energy Association (TREA) convened its inaugural sixth session of the Board of Directors and Supervisors meeting along with the second General Assembly of Members. In response to MOEA's proposal to promote the "Low-Carbon Electricity RE30" classification management, the association expressed concerns over three major issues. They warned that the program might even foster suspicions of "greenwashing" by blending fossil-based power with green energy, and could result in increased carbon emissions for companies and general consumers not participating in the scheme—thereby severely undermining the resale electricity market and international competitiveness. Following extensive discussions, the association resolved to urge the government to reconsider and temporarily postpone the initiative.

Ruth Bradley-Jones, Representative at the British Office Taipei, and Martin Kent, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for Asia Pacific currently visiting Taiwan, announced the latest 2024-25 British Business Survey results at an event hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei. Representatives from the Taiwanese authorities, including Deputy Trade Representative Huai-Shing YEN from Office of Trade Negotiation, Secretary General Amelia W.J. DAY from International Trade Administration and Director General Emile M. P. CHANG from Department of Investment Promotion of Ministry of Economic Affairs, also attended the event.
