The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy recently announced the "Offshore Wind Competitive Bidding Roadmap." According to the roadmap, the Ministry will conduct competitive bidding for up to 8 GW of offshore wind projects over the next 2 years, from the second half of this year to the first half of 2026. This capacity is fifty times larger than the current installed capacity of 158.5 MW, and including last year's 1.5 GW tender, approximately 10 GW of offshore wind projects are expected to be under construction.

CPC Signs MOU with Academia Sinica and NCU to Promote Geothermal Research Exploration and Development Technologies
In response to the Taiwan government's energy transition policy, CPC Corporation Taiwan (CPC) is actively promoting the development of green energy and carbon reduction technologies in Taiwan, alongside the growth of related industries. On the 6th of this month, CPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Academia Sinica and National Central University (NCU) to jointly advance geothermal research, exploration, and development technologies in Taiwan. This collaboration aims to contribute significantly to the realization of the 2050 net-zero carbon emissions target.

LS Marine Solutions has signed an agreement with Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) in Taiwan for a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) lease service. and has announced participation in a domestic tender in South Korea. LS Eco Energy's representative and Pauline Chen, CEO of DFO, together signed an agreement on the 7th to support offshore wind farm construction operations. During the construction of offshore wind farms, the SOV can provide high-quality accommodation and dining services by connecting to the wind turbines and can remain at sea for over 10 days, earning the nickname "five-star hotel at sea."

BlueFloat Energy Announces Participation in Taiwan's First "Winds of September" Floating Wind Demonstration Project Auction and Signed an Agreement with MIRDC
BlueFloat Energy (hereinafter referred to as BlueFloat) officially announced yesterday (7th) the site selection for the "Winds of September Offshore Wind Project Phase I." The company indicated its intention to participate in the Taiwan government's floating wind farm demonstration project selection, expected to start by the end of the year. BlueFloat signed an agreement with the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) to collaborate on the "Analysis of Taiwan's Local Supply Chain Capacity for Floating Offshore Wind Mooring and Anchoring Systems," reaffirming its commitment to establishing Taiwan's first floating wind farm.

MOEA Announces the Results of Taiwan Offshore Wind 3-2 Zonal Development 5 Wind Farms Selected
The results of the offshore wind power zonal development Phase 2 capacity allocation have been officially released. The selected projects are Shinfox Energy (Yuanta), SRE (Formosa 6), CIP (Fengmiao II), Corio (Formosa 3-site 11), and Enervest (InfraVest, DeShuai), totaling five offshore wind farms with a combined allocated capacity of 2.7GW.

CPC Corporation Taiwan Announces 2024 August NG and LPG Prices
CPC announced on the 31st that, in August 2024, household natural gas (NG) prices will stay the same, with CPC bearing the costs, to support people's livelihoods and comply with the government's price stabilization policy. Additionally, CPC stated that effective midnight today (the 2nd), there will be no price adjustments in August for household LPG (bottled gas), industrial propane, butane, mixed propane-butane, and automotive LPG.
