The Kaohsiung City has completed the environmental assessment review for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) third new semiconductor plant in Kaohsiung. The meeting concluded with the approval of the review. The development of the plant site, including both production and administrative areas, covers a total area of 17.22 hectares. Chang-Chan Tsai, Director of the Water Resource Bureau, Kaohsiung City, promised that the construction timelines for the future Ciaotou and Gangshan recycled water plants will align with TSMC's construction needs, ensuring 100% recycled water supply as scheduled.

Ta San Shang Marine Signs a Deal for Construction of 3rd SOV to Serve Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and Ta Tong Marine (TSS) today announced their joint venture Ta San Shang Marine Co. Ltd. (TSSM) signed a deal for the construction of a new service operation vessel (SOV) with the Damen Group of the Netherlands on June 27. This is the third newbuilding SOV to TSSM, following the TSS Pioneer, the first newly built SOV in Asia (delivered in 2022), and the TSS Cruiser, which was ordered last November and is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2025.

Polling by Savanta for climate charity Possible found 74% of those quizzed supported the rapid overturning of the effective ban on onshore wind, because it was good for the climate, would bring down energy bills, or both. Just 11% opposed such a move, the survey of more than 2,300 people found. Nearly three-quarters of people support lifting the de facto ban on new onshore wind farms within weeks of the election, polling has suggested.

Mailiao Power Station Proactively Requests Taipower to Issue Pending Electricity
In response to concerns from the Legislative Yuan's KMT caucus regarding the extension of Mailiao Power Station Unit 1 due to power shortages, Taipower clarified that the extension was requested by the operator in May to compensate for power not delivered due to force majeure. This request is unrelated to the decommissioning of Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Unit 1, which was retired according to legal requirements. The decommissioned Maanshan NPP Unit 1 was planned to be replaced by the higher-capacity Fong Der Gas-fired Power Plant, ensuring an adequate power supply.
