The Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) hosted "Blue Tech 2026 Ocean Technology Day" on May 27 at the Marine Technology Industrial Innovation Center (MTIC) in Kaohsiung. The event marked the first large-scale marine technology exhibition since MTIC's establishment. The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by Deputy Director General Chung-Hsien Chen of the Energy Administration, MOEA, and MIRDC Chairperson Chia-Ju Liu, highlighting developments in marine technology, offshore wind O&M, and emerging ocean energy industries.

Following approximately two months of bilateral consultations and coordination, U.S. authorities have announced plans to publish a Federal Register notice to implement the Taiwan-U.S. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The measures, effective retroactively from May 1, provide Section 232 tariff relief for several categories of Taiwanese exports, including automotive components, wood products, and aerospace-related goods, strengthening Taiwan's competitiveness in the U.S. market.
