The ROC (Renewables On Campus) campus tour organized by EnergyOMNI continues its momentum, with the second event held on March 5th at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). Focused on "A Brief Discussion on Carbon Issues and the Development of Renewable Energy" and "Offshore Wind Practice in Taiwan," the session featured guest speakers Scott Hsu, Country Director Taiwan & Philippines at K2 Management, and James Wu, Founder of Maximus Consulting, who shared their professional experiences in the renewable energy sector to encourage students to pursue careers in the green energy field.

Joi Wu, founder of EnergyOMNI, expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic response to the ROC campus tour's inaugural event. This year's goal is to visit 7 to 10 colleges and universities, providing students with insights into various renewable energy developments and addressing their inquiries. Wu also engaged students in discussions on climate change phenomena, global net-zero carbon trends, carbon rights, and carbon taxes, fostering awareness of carbon neutrality from daily life perspectives.

Hsu delved into Taiwan's offshore wind energy background from a financial perspective, emphasizing that while the renewable energy sector appears to mainly require STEM talents, it also demands non-STEM skills like legal, financial, and accounting expertise. He stressed the importance of comprehensive project execution involving financial planning and risk management to ensure smooth project operations. Hsu encouraged students to enhance their electrical system knowledge, fundamental skills, and English proficiency during their academic years, fostering enthusiasm and a self-learning attitude for their future careers and urging them to pursue interdisciplinary learning for better opportunities.

James Wu noted that in the past, STEM professionals typically gravitated toward information technology and the electronics industry. However, considering current trends, he advised students to examine the future market of industries. Renewable energy, with its future growth potential and current talent demand, presents opportunities, including overseas employment. He shared his own work experiences and encouraged students to strengthen their language and communication skills, embrace international perspectives, fearlessly embrace failure, accumulate practical experiences, and carve their own paths.

The ROC campus lecture program, a non-profit platform targeting to incubate young talents for the renewable industry, originated from the vision of EnergyOMNI founder Joi Wu and Maximus Consulting founder James Wu. Through organizing campus tours and sharing practical insights with students, the initiative aims to equip students with knowledge of various renewable energy sectors during their academic years, guiding them towards future employment directions.

The ROC (Renewables On Campus) campus tour is ongoing, and EnergyOMNI welcomes collaboration invitations from universities nationwide and various renewable energy sector firms to jointly promote the renewable energy field and the concept of achieving net-zero by 2050. Through this initiative, students can glean valuable insights from industry professionals, gain early exposure to the industry, and potentially engage in the renewable energy sector.
