Ørsted will host the “Offshore Wind Moving Forward” Forum on the opening day of the 2025 Energy Taiwan (October 29), bringing together leaders from industry, government, and academia to discuss energy resilience, industrial competitiveness, and capital market development.

Ørsted will participate in the 2025 Energy Taiwan from October 29 to 31, under the theme "Offshore Wind Moves Forward! Powering Taiwan's Sustainable Future." The company will host a summit forum and a series of thematic sessions focusing on energy resilience, industrial competitiveness, sustainable investment, and ecological coexistence, showcasing how offshore wind, amid the rise of AI and the net-zero transition, continues to create lasting value for Taiwan's society, economy, and environment.

Christy Wang, Chairperson of Ørsted Taiwan, stated, "Taiwan's recent development experience has proven that offshore wind power can reliably supply large-scale clean electricity. In 2024 alone, offshore wind generation reached 8.6 billion kWh, accounting for around 25% of the nation's total renewable power generation. By 2030, Taiwan's offshore wind capacity is expected to reach 10.9 GW, with an annual output exceeding 30 billion kWh, positioning it as a cornerstone of the country's overall power supply. At this year's exhibition, Ørsted will engage with stakeholders from industry, government, and academia to advance the healthy growth of offshore wind while safeguarding environmental sustainability, helping Taiwan move steadily toward its net-zero transition."

October 29|Offshore Wind Summit Forum: Enhancing Energy Resilience and Global Competitiveness

At the "Offshore Wind Forward: Energy Resilience, Industrial Competitiveness, and Capital Markets" forum, Ørsted Taiwan Chairperson Christy Wang will join Dr. Tze-Luen Lin, Deputy Executive Director of the Executive Yuan's Office of Energy and Carbon Reduction, and Chun-Lin Liao, Senior Executive Vice President of CTBC Bank, to discuss the pivotal role of offshore wind power in strengthening Taiwan's energy resilience, accelerating decarbonization, and boosting industrial competitiveness on the global stage.

October 29|Thematic Session: Ørsted's Sustainability in Action — Green Energy in Harmony with Nature

Ørsted firmly believes that renewable energy infrastructure should bring positive impacts to surrounding environments and ecosystems. This core value is embedded throughout the entire lifecycle of its offshore wind projects — from development and construction to operations and maintenance. Ørsted's biodiversity experts will share the latest findings from pioneering research on coral, fish, and bird monitoring and conservation, showcasing how scientific planning enables offshore wind power to coexist and thrive alongside nature.

October 30|Thematic Session: Powering Stability — Inside Ørsted Taiwan's Operations & Maintenance Team

Behind every efficiently running offshore wind farm lies years of dedicated investment in local talent and technical expertise. Members of Ørsted Taiwan's O&M team will take audiences behind the scenes through videos and live sharing — from onshore control centers to offshore wind farms — revealing how the team leverages talent development, cutting-edge maintenance technologies, digital tools, and data analytics to ensure the continuous operation of the Greater Changhua Offshore Wind Farms.

October 31|Wind Power Unveiled: Explore Offshore Wind with Ørsted

This year, Ørsted is launching a special "Wind Power Unveiled" guided tour, inviting student groups to explore the exhibition up close. Participants will gain a hands-on understanding of offshore wind farm development, construction, and operations. Each tour lasts 30 minutes, accommodating 10–15 students per group. Reservations can be made in advance via Ørsted's Facebook or Instagram direct message.

Immersive Sensory Experience|Step into the World of Sustainable Energy

Ørsted has created an immersive underwater projection space to showcase ongoing research on coral habitat restoration feasibility. The annual limited-edition "Earth Ice Cream" makes a return, offering a multi-sensory experience combining sight, sound, and taste. Visitors can fully appreciate how Ørsted develops offshore wind power while advancing climate action, protecting ecosystems, and promoting community co-benefits, highlighting the diverse sustainability values of offshore wind energy.

Operational Wind Farms

  • Ørsted is the largest shareholder (35%) of Formosa 1 Offshore Wind Farm, Taiwan's first operational offshore wind project. The second phase of construction was completed at the end of 2019 and entered commercial operation in early 2020, expanding total installed capacity from 8 MW to 128 MW.
  • The Greater Changhua 1 and 2a Offshore Wind Farms, located 35–60 kilometers off the coast of Changhua, have a combined grid capacity of 900 MW, providing clean energy to one million Taiwanese households annually.
  • The Greater Changhua 2a Offshore Wind Farm, with an installed capacity of 605 MW, is 50% owned by Ørsted. The remaining 50% stake is held by a joint venture between international infrastructure investor CDPQ (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec) and Taiwan's Cathay Sustainable Private Equity Fund.
  • Ørsted is conducting the world's first coral cultivation feasibility study at the Greater Changhua 2a site, exploring how offshore turbine foundations in tropical waters can serve as potential habitats for coral regeneration.

Wind Farms Under Construction

Greater Changhua 2b and 4 Offshore Wind Farms

  • In June 2018, Ørsted won the bid for its second large-scale offshore wind project—the 920 MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 Offshore Wind Farms—and subsequently signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in July 2020.
  • The Greater Changhua 4 Offshore Wind Farm will have an installed capacity of 583 MW, with Ørsted holding a 50% stake and the remaining 50% owned by Cathay Life Insurance.
