|Seatrium and ABS ink 3-year Deal to Green Maritime and Offshore Sectors
Seatrium signed a 3-year Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA) with ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) to accelerate decarbonization and energy transition in the maritime and offshore sectors. The agreement, “Accelerating Decarbonisation & Energy Transition,” will focus on 4 key areas: decarbonization, electrification, new energies, and digital transformation.
|Reuters: SBTi Internal Report Reveals Most Carbon Offsets Are Ineffective
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), an authoritative organization overseeing global corporate carbon emissions, recently faced internal criticism for its leadership's proposal to relax carbon offset policies, which has been accused of "greenwashing" for businesses. A recent internal report from SBTi revealed that the most widely used carbon offsets are largely ineffective. According to Reuters, the report could hinder the growth of the nascent voluntary carbon market. Despite participation from major corporations like Microsoft and Amazon in purchasing carbon offsets, the voluntary carbon market remains niche, with a current scale of only around $2 billion.
|Carbon Fee Imminent: TPCA Releases PCB Energy-Saving and Carbon Reduction Guidelines
With the implementation of the EU carbon tax, international brands' carbon neutrality commitments, and the imminent carbon fee in Taiwan, the pressure from both domestic and international environments has made carbon reduction more than a slogan—it has become the cornerstone of corporate sustainability. On the 13th, the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) pointed out that the release of guidelines on energy conservation and carbon reduction for PCBs is a joint effort with the industry to address the global net-zero agenda, thereby assisting in the industry's voluntary energy-saving initiatives and achieving a low-carbon transformation.
