CDWE was awarded a contract for the construction of foundation transportation and installation for an offshore wind farm in Changhua, as well as a priority contract for wind turbine transportation and installation in 2019. The project is expected to commence in April this year with the pre-piling of foundation piles. CSBC expects to complete the installation of the subsea foundation by CSBC's Green Jade in the second half of this year.
(CSBC-DEME WIND ENGINEERING Co., Ltd., CDWE) is a joint venture between Taiwan International Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC) and Belgian DEME Offshore Holding NV to form Taiwan's only local offshore wind power construction team in 2019. According to Cheng Wen-Lung, Chairman of CSBC, the design, and construction of the "Green Jade" is much more difficult than the traditional commercial vessels CSBC has built before. In order to avoid delaying the construction schedule of the wind farm, the self-lifting workboat “Apollo“ was mobilized by CDWE Company to carry out the pre-piling operation of the underwater foundation piles.
“Green Jade” has a length of 216.5 m, a width of 49 m, a depth of 16.8 m, and a cargo area of 8,200 square meters, equivalent to 1.3 soccer fields, and could carry up to 60,000 tons of cargo. It is Taiwan's first maritime engineering vessel to be designed and built by itself with high specifications and complexity. With a 4,000-ton crane and DP3 dynamic positioning system, “Green Jade” be used by offshore wind farm developers to transport and install new underwater foundations and new generation wind turbines under the most economical conditions. “Green Jade” will also enter the offshore wind farm business to accelerate the energy transformation in Taiwan further.
