Geothermal Project Applications Must Adhere to Indigenous Peoples Basic Law MOEA Affirms Commitment to Local Right-to-Know
The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) stated that, to protect the rights of Indigenous communities during geothermal exploration and development, the Renewable Energy Development Act and the Geothermal Exploration Development Permit and Management Regulation clearly stipulate that any application for geothermal exploration or development permits involving Indigenous lands or public lands within a certain vicinity of Indigenous communities must comply with Article 21 of the Indigenous Peoples Basic Law. Relevant supporting documents must be submitted to prove compliance.

Shinfox Energy and its subsidiaries have launched a comprehensive tree-planting and afforestation initiative as part of their sustainable carbon reduction efforts. Ahead of Earth Day, Shinfox Energy completed annual tree-planting operation in a newly established forestation area in Chishang, Taitung (south of the Southern Cross-Island Highway). Shinfox Energy also joined New Taipei City Government's "One Million People Plant One Million Trees" campaign and supported the "Earth Solutions" initiative led by 5% Design Action. PwC Taiwan Proposes 3 Strategies for Taiwanese Businesses in ASEAN to Address Trump's Tariff Shock
On April 2, U.S. President Trump announced a new policy enforcing reciprocal tariff rates. Although implementation has been temporarily paused for 90 days, it has already caused global trade turmoil. The uncertainty becomes the new norm in international trade. As one of the key regions exporting to the U.S., ASEAN countries swiftly responded, launching trade negotiations with the U.S. Vietnam and Cambodia were the first to express willingness to lower import tariffs on U.S. goods. Meanwhile, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia have all indicated plans to increase imports from the U.S. to reduce trade deficits, and none of them plan to impose retaliatory tariffs—each is striving to find solutions to mitigate the impact of U.S. tariffs.

CIP's Fengmiao Phase 1 Offshore Wind Farm Becomes Google's Inaugural Offshore Wind Procurement in Taiwan and APAC
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its fifth flagship fund (Copenhagen Infrastructure V, CI V), announced today (April 22) that its Fengmiao Phase 1 offshore wind farm has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Google in March. This marks Google's first offshore wind power procurement in both Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.
