MOEA Unveils New Offshore Wind Power Roadmap, Targeting Up to 27.9 GW of Installed Capacity by 2039
The MOEA announced the "2026–2039 Offshore Wind Mid- to Long-term Development Plan," aiming to add approximately 15–18 GW of offshore wind development capacity. Under a four-year auction mechanism, around 8 GW will be allocated in each phase, with the government targeting cumulative installed capacity of 18.3–19.9 GW by 2035 and 24.7–27.9 GW by 2039.

The MOEA on July 21 urged lawmakers to reject a proposal by the Kuomintang (KMT) caucus to suspend the government's integrated uncrewed systems development program and eliminate its FY2026 budget. The ministry warned that cutting funding to zero would severely undermine one of Taiwan's fastest-growing industries, weaken national defense resilience, and disrupt efforts to build a trusted, non-China supply chain.

Smart energy leader HD Renewable Energy (HDRE) announced its consolidated revenue for May 2025, reaching NTD 586 million for the month. This represents a 12.28% decrease compared to April, but a significant 171.90% increase compared to the same period last year. Ministry of Environment Proposes Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Initiates with Pilot Declaration System
In response to media reports about domestic manufacturers facing pressure from the introduction of carbon fees and low-priced imports, while Taiwan's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) appears to lack progress, the Ministry of Environment (MOENV) clarified that it is currently studying international carbon pricing schemes as a foundation for developing a domestic CBAM framework. In 2025, the MOENV is planning to introduce a trial declaration system and aims to complete the necessary legislative work in 2026 to launch the trial. The MOENV will continue to monitor the legal and implementation developments of CBAMs globally and make necessary adjustments to ensure fair competition for domestic industries and importers.

This third batch includes high energy- or fuel-consuming sectors such as service industries, transportation, healthcare institutions, colleges and universities, and small to medium-sized manufacturers, demonstrating the MOENV's determination to drive decarbonization efforts across various ministries.

As the chair of the "Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunity Alliance" (TEDIBOA), AIDC, with strong support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), led alliance members to Texas, USA, to participate in the global flagship event "XPONENTIAL 2025," establishing a Taiwan Pavilion and successfully engaging in over 20 cooperation opportunities, with total potential business exceeding NT$1 billion.
