Delay in Announcement of Carbon Fee Committee Members: Ministry of Environment Stresses Conflict of Interest Verification
The Ministry of Environment originally planned to announce the Carbon Fee Review Committee members by the end of February. Still, it has not been made public. Climate Change Administration Deputy Director-General Wei-Ming Huang stated today that selected experts and scholars are prohibited from concurrently serving as directors or supervisors of entities subject to carbon fee collection. They are also required to sign a declaration of avoiding conflicts of interest. Meanwhile, government agencies and civil organizations are expected to finalize their recommendations for candidates this week.

According to SITA, Slovakia's largest smart battery storage facility (2.7 megawatts) was inaugurated in Banska Bystrica at the end of February. Operated by Fuergy, the facility provides certified and non-certified support services to SEPS (Slovak Electricity Transmission System), aiming to reduce approximately 361 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. The conservative estimated payback period for investment is 3.5 years, with a battery lifespan of 15 years and an annual battery aging rate of 1.5 to 2%.

Yunneng Yulin OWF Powering Over 216,000 Households Annually and Aims for Completion by 2024
Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd., the constructor and operator of Offshore Wind Farm Yunlin (OWF Yunlin), announced (March 4th) that as of the end of 2023, wind turbines with grid connection have contributed to 880 million kWh (880 GWh) energy generation, equivalent to the annual power consumption of over 216,000 households. Yunneng is expected to commence underwater foundation installation work in March, aiming to complete the installation of 80 turbines by the end of this year.

CDWE Completes Installation of 31 Underwater Foundations for Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm
CSBC Corporation Taiwan (referred to as CSBC) jointly owned CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering Co., Ltd. (referred to as CDWE) completed the installation of the last foundation for the Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) on March 3rd. A total of 31 underwater jacket foundations were installed by the wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) "Green Jade," designed by CSBC.
