Guantang LNG Terminal Completes Early Gas Supply Test Achieves Output Capacity of 900 Tons per Hour
The testing and commissioning of CPC Taiwan's Guantang LNG Terminal is progressing ahead of schedule. On June 6, 2025, the terminal successfully completed a test of its natural gas output capacity at 900 tons per hour. This milestone was reached one week earlier than originally planned, demonstrating CPC's commitment to supporting the government's domestic energy transition policies and ensuring a stable gas supply.

Ministry of Environment Proposes Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Initiates with Pilot Declaration System
In response to media reports about domestic manufacturers facing pressure from the introduction of carbon fees and low-priced imports, while Taiwan's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) appears to lack progress, the Ministry of Environment (MOENV) clarified that it is currently studying international carbon pricing schemes as a foundation for developing a domestic CBAM framework. In 2025, the MOENV is planning to introduce a trial declaration system and aims to complete the necessary legislative work in 2026 to launch the trial. The MOENV will continue to monitor the legal and implementation developments of CBAMs globally and make necessary adjustments to ensure fair competition for domestic industries and importers.

As the Ministry of Environment (MOENVNV) officially began levying carbon fees this year on the first and second batches of regulated emission sources, it further announced in March that a third batch of emission sources will be required to conduct inventory and reporting starting in 2026. This third batch includes high energy- or fuel-consuming sectors such as service industries, transportation, healthcare institutions, colleges and universities, and small to medium-sized manufacturers, demonstrating the MOENV's determination to drive decarbonization efforts across various ministries.

In response to global climate change and the push for carbon reduction policies, the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has become a major trend in low-carbon transportation development worldwide. To align with national aviation policy and industry demands, Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) has established national standards for SAF and included it within the scope of mandatory inspection. This move ensures product quality compliance and supports the aviation industry in reaching net-zero carbon emission targets.
